Top 5 tea cafes in London

Britain is known for being an avid tea-drinking population, so it’s no surprise that London is full of amazing tea shops, cafes and bars to while away the hours in. So many in fact, that it was pretty hard for us to choose 5 of our favourites. But nevertheless, we have created a list of our top spots for a cuppa:

Mei Leaf,  99 Camden High St, London NW1 7JN

Just up the road from the tube station, Mei Leaf offers the full gong fu tea experience for an extremely affordable price. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned tea-drinker, everyone is welcome here as the staff are incredibly well-trained and are on-hand to provide information about the variety of teas available. Their range of Chinese teas is impressive, and are all sourced directly from tea growers; they pride themselves on having excellent relationships with the farms they work with.

Not only is the tea fantastic, but the space is equally as amazing – as you enjoy your brew, you can watch people flitting in and out of their herbal medicine and acupuncture clinic.

Postcard Teas, 9 Dering St, Mayfair, London W1S 1AG

This is an essential visit if you love tea! Championing provenance and small tea producers, Postcard are environmentally conscious and support local independent farmers to deliver the most delicious teas to their customers.

XU, 30 Rupert St, London W1D 6DL

When you’re all burned out from shopping along Oxford Street, head over to Soho for an exquisite Gong Fu-style afternoon tea at XU! You can either enjoy a lovely brew on its own or part of a leisurely tea ceremony. As they adhere to the traditional Taiwanese way of tea brewing, you can enjoy some delicious Taiwanese pastries alongside your cup.

Pamban, Camden Market, North Yard, Chalk Farm Rd, Camden NW1 8AH

This highly instagrammable chai and coffee house makes for great feeds, but serves even tastier tea! They serve traditionally brewed chai from India and Sri Lanka, and remains authentic to the original recipes. We absolutely love their rose chai!

TABxTAB, Westbourne House, 14-16 Westbourne Grove, London W2 5RH

This is a coffee shop that takes its tea very seriously. Serving fantastic Pu’er tea from Teaspec, they are making speciality tea more accessible to the general public. Pu’er tea contains abundant amounts of antioxidants, so that’s the perfect excuse to drink lots of it, right?! As well as Teaspec, TABxTAB serve small batch fine loose leaf teas sourced via Lalani & Co, made with thorough care and attention.
