How have you been getting on with this new way of life? Some are baking copious amounts of banana bread, some are exhausting their Netflix accounts. Some have worn the same athleisure clothing for weeks on end that it has practically become a second skin.
In the extra time we’ve had, we’ve been diving into the Caffeine archives and picking out our favourite tipple recipes, so that you can re-create them at home.
These two classic liqueurs work together to create a beautifully flavoured and memorably zingy cocktail – perfect for, well, whenever!
Patrón XO Cafe is one of the original coffee liqueurs, but it has fallen out of favour somewhat in recent years. But as the only coffee liqueur that uses tequila as its base, it’s perfect for pairing with a dry curaçao – a combination that was introduced to the Caffeine team by editor-at-large Tim Ridley during a boozy editorial meeting, and which is now our new favourite thing. The bitterness of the Patrón XO is the ideal partner for the sweet citrus flavour of the curaçao – just right for celebrating a special occasion.
Ingredients:
30ml Patrón XO Cafe
15ml dry curaçao
60ml sparkling wine
Shake the Patrón XO Cafe and curaçao in a cocktail shaker, then strain into a chilled champagne flute. Top with sparkling wine and garnish with a lemon twist for a zingy finish.
